Born out of the needs of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021, we have continually looked for ways to safely connect and build community power. Alongside the work we are doing to create the physical artistic home of the Victoria Theater Art Center at 825 University Ave, we have also embarked on creating a dynamic virtual gathering space as well.
And so, we are proud to present: The Victoria Theater Arts Center IN Minecraft! |
A big 'Thank You' to the Patrick and Aimee Butler Family Foundation for supporting the operations, expansion, and accessibility of the VTAC Minecraft Server!

What is Minecraft?Minecraft is described as a 'sandbox game' - a virtual world where users can create there own world and experience. In Minecraft, you create and destroy resources in order to build and develop buildings, sculptures, landmarks---or whatever your mind can think up!
You can play it on a tablet or a computer, and you can play in your own, private game or link up to community servers and community build projects. |
Sara Smith is an Anthropology/Art History double major at Hamline University, hailing from Minneapolis! As a continually curious digital citizen, they are always looking to explore new and interesting platforms for artistic exploration. They have been playing Minecraft since the age of 12, and love the open world creative freedom the game provides. Sara is particularly excited to explore ways to make arts programming more accessible!

Hello! I’m Sarah Wood, an upcoming Junior at Hamline University where I’m majoring in Anthropology and double minoring in Criminology/Criminal Justice and Forensic Science. I’m originally from Madison, WI but I recently moved permanently to St. Paul and I couldn’t be happier here :-)
While I was growing up one of my favorite things to do was play with my brother and we would trade off on the computer playing Minecraft day in and day out. I love the versatility and creativity that Minecraft gives to its players, which is why I still enjoy playing with others now. Luckily, VTAC also is a place for creativity, so merging the two is something I love! |
My name is Emily McKenzie. I am a rising junior with a double major in Anthropology, Studio Arts, and a minor in Forensic Science. I have been playing Minecraft since it came out! One of my favorite memories of playing Minecraft was being in my best friend's basement playing until 3 in the morning! The same best friend got me into anime and K-pop! Now, I have a collection of figurines, artworks, posters, stuff animals, and random merch from anime shows/movies and K-pop bands. I am glad to be working with VTAC and the community to create a world in Minecraft for everyone to enjoy!
